Extend Website Outreach with Mobile Optimised Website Design
The Internet has experienced explosive growth in recent years and the number of websites and Internet users continues to expand daily. The increasing importance of the Internet and the rising use of mobile devices for Internet access calls for mobile-optimized website design.
A website is not just an information source for potential customers of a business but it can also act as a marketing tool if properly designed. Proper aesthetics and optimum usability are essential to project a positive image of the business and maximum utilization of the website.
During its initial years, the Internet was mostly accessed from desktop computers. However, the rapid proliferation of smartphones in the last few years has transformed how people access the Internet. Modern smartphones have large screens and high display resolutions that make such phones perfect for browsing the Internet. Another recent trend is the use of tablets for Internet access. The big advantage of mobile browsing through smartphones and tablets is that people can access a website on the move such as when walking or commuting or waiting at an office etc.
Browsing a website on a tablet or a smartphone is a very different experience as the screen sizes are quite small. Typical phones have screen sizes ranging from 3 inches to 5 inches while tablets have screen sizes ranging from 7 inches to 10 inches. As a result, a website that looks alright on a desktop monitor may not look good on a mobile device and visitors may miss important information.
Websites that have been optimized for mobile browsing have buttons and site content arranged in a user-friendly manner for display on small screens. Most mobile-optimized websites exist side by side with existing websites and a visitor is automatically transferred to the mobile-optimized version of the website on accessing the website from a mobile device.
Trying to Make a New Web Page
I am going to try to make a new web page for my uncle, even though I am not really that savvy when it comes to web design. My uncle is a fairly sharp guy, but not when it comes to computers and the Internet. He has a very sparse web page that barely gives any description of what he does. Of course as far as the content goes, basically, I am going to let him do most of the work because he can explain his business more effectively than I can. Mostly I figure that some pictures will do the job better than words can, and I know that he has a lot of pictures.
