General Information for Customers


Opening Hours:

  • The Canterbury and Essendon branches are both open from 7:30am to 5.30pm Monday to Thursday and 7:30am to 5pm on Fridays.
  • We are closed weekends and public holidays.
  • During the festive season, both Branches will remain open except for Christmas day, Boxing day and New Year's day. At times, depending on when the public holidays fall on the calendar, we may close for an extra day, however this will be publicised with plenty of notice to our customers.

Bookings:

  • Depending on the time of the year, two to seven working days’ notice is usually required to book your car in.
  • Online bookings can be made at www.bmtech.com.au/mintech/book
  • Cancellations and rescheduling require minimum 48 hours’ notice (Cancellation fees may apply)
  • SMS text message reminders are sent the day before the booking date.

Drop Off & Pick Up Times:

  • The best time to drop off the car is between 7:30am and 8am for both Canterbury and Essendon, however, we understand that this can sometimes be difficult to achieve, particularly for customers with school children, so in these cases; we ask if the car can be dropped off as early as practically possible.
  • Collection times can vary considerably depending on the size of the job, but usually the average time is between 4pm and 5pm. We will always contact you as soon as the car if completed.

Being Contactable:

  • While we are servicing or repairing your car, there may be times during the day when will need to contact you to discuss any issues or progress with you, so we ask that you please leave us your best contact number where we can easily call you, or leave your mobile phone on so we can immediately call or SMS you or leave a voice message.

Our Job Process:

  • MINTech has developed a system or style of working on cars which we believe is one of the best in the industry. It’s a system which is designed to inspect, quote and repair the car in a manner which is efficient, keeps the car reliable and is cost effective to you the owner. It’s also designed to ensure your car is off the road in the shortest amount of time. We pride ourselves on delivering 95% of the cars we work on back to the client on the same day, including unscheduled break-down jobs.

Washing Your Car:

  • It’s always been our policy to thoroughly wash and vacuum each car that we work on (except during water restrictions). If you do not want us to wash your car, please let us know on the day of the appointment.

Loan Cars

  • Yes we do! For your convenience, we can supply loan cars while your MINI is being serviced. Loan cars are No Charge except for fuel usage with an insurance damage excess of $2500. To reduce the excess to $500, the charge is $29 per day plus fuel. This service is only available to customers who are over 22 years of age and bookings are essential.
  • Each loan car is equipped with child seat anchors however; we would still like to know if you will be using child seats so we can ensure the car is conveniently accessible for you.

Public Transport:

  • The Canterbury branch is very close to both Canterbury and Chatham train stations.
  • Essendon has a tram and bus line right outside the front door along Keilor Road.

Car Access:

  • The front of the Canterbury branch has a large off-street car park outside
  • The Essendon branch is conveniently located on a corner so easy off-street access is available from Birdwood Street.
  • Drop offs and pick-ups are very safe and easy.

Payments:

  • Payment is required at completion of work.
  • We accept MasterCard, Visa and EFTPOS with no fees.
  • Direct Bank deposits can be made only if a genuine bank receipt printout is produced prior to pick up.
  • Cash is accepted of course; however, we would like to be informed if you wish to pay large amounts (over $3000) by cash.
  • Payments by Cheque: We subscribe to a cheque authorisation company, namely Certegy Australia, whereby each cheque is scanned for acceptance. For us to accept cheques, the person who signs the cheque needs to be present with appropriate identification such as a driver’s license. Company cheques also require proof of directorship such as a business card or business credit card with the director’s name on it.

Pricing Policy:

  • Our goal and commitment is to be the best value Mini Service Centre in Melbourne and that you are always supplied with the highest quality parts and lubricants at a price that is both fair and reasonable and more importantly, never more than the recommended retail price set by the manufacturer.
    The labour hours which we book out are the same as what the manufacturer uses when determining the length of time to charge for labour.

Warranty:

  • MINTech guarantees all workmanship and parts for a period of two years or 40,000 kms, whichever occurs first. It is a requirement that MINTech supplies all spare parts and lubricants. We do not allow customers to supply their own parts.

Service Reminders & Newsletters:

  • MINTech sends out service reminders letters and SMS text messages at 12 months, 14 months and 18 months. Occasionally, we send out Newsletters to inform customers about issues and developments, relating to owning and running your MINI or Mini.
  • We are currently in the process of updating customer email addresses so that we can be a little greener and not send letters by normal mail.If you have not provided your email, could you please send us your email address along with your name and car registration number to info@bmtech.com.au
  • We also have a Facebook page as a means of communicating to our customers.
